The Yucca Valley Yellows and Syracuse Storm were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Syracuse beat Yucca Valley on the strength of starter Jeffrey Eckert's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. The save was credited to John Ellis, his 12th.

Syracuse used a well-timed hit by Víctor Salazar to capture the win. The first baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Storm ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Jeffrey -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Storm manager Harris Bailey. "He was the key to us winning."

Syracuse, at 59-37, is 5 games up in the Menard's A.
