Mancelona rode a fine outing from starter Alonso Álvarez to victory over the Niagara Falls Expos at Torch Field. The final score was 3-1. Álvarez got the win, improving to 4-3. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 7.2 innings. Álvarez allowed 1 run. Danny Antonio converted his 21st save in 22 tries.
With runs few and far between, the Torch had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Mancelona came in the bottom of the third inning, when right fielder Tony Fulton delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Arnel Lazaro and made the score 1-0, Torch. Fulton went 1-3 with a walk.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Álvarez told the Mancelona Herald.
The Torch raised their record to 36-53.
