Storm Clip Godfathers, 2-1
|
The Pontiac Godfathers got a superb performance from pitcher Shuji Kokawa, but the Syracuse Storm still won the game, 2-1. Kokawa threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Gonzalo Barajas, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. Syracuse raised its record to 47-35 with the win.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Ji-hoon Ku to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Storm the lead, 2-1. For the game, Ku had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"This was a tough loss," said Pontiac manager Júlio Villegas. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
