Mancelona Gets 9-4 Win
|
Mancelona designated hitter Jay Copeland had a 5-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Kingston Mangos, 9-4. Parker Larsen, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-11. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The victory puts Mancelona at 30-51.
Copeland contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Mancelona in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Copeland took a cutter from Larry Larsen and stroked the home run to right-center. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Torch to leap in front, 4-1.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Torch manager Marshall Edwards. "This one was nice to get."
