Rainbow Mermaids Deal Patriots 6-4 Defeat
|
Northern Virginia and Boston duked it out and the Rainbow Mermaids came out victorious.
Boston first baseman Juan Andrés Martí had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Martí was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Northern Virginia beat the Patriots, 6-4. Joe Khokar was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 18 save opportunities.
Northern Virginia used the timely hitting of Guillermo Dettori to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Dettori said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Rainbow Mermaids sit in 7th place in the Premier League with a record of 51-56.
