The Alameda Airmen and Cut Off Crawdads provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Cut Off Crawdads did just enough to sneak past the Alameda Airmen, 5-4, at Alameda Field. Cut Off pitcher Paul Rhodes, in particular, had a standout performance. Shao-zu Chow notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0.

The outcome might have been different for Cut Off, had it not been for Pedro Ramos, the 21-year old shortstop . Ramos stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Cut Off up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ramos told the Cut Off Observer.
