In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

Northern Virginia rode a good effort from starter Zebulon Vermillion to beat the Long Island Lighthouse at Atlantica. The final score was 6-2. Vermillion, the winner, moves to 6-6. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.

The Rainbow Mermaids got an important contribution from second baseman Fa-hsien Tze, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 1-2 splitter into right-center for a 2-run triple. It was his 8th triple of the season and put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 5-2.

Tze said his team "played with determination."

Their 39-47 record puts the Rainbow Mermaids 7th in the Premier League.
