Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Mancelona Torch were eager to watch Parker Larsen square off against Jim Hunter of the visiting Syracuse Storm. In the end, the Torch won the game, 3-2, with Parker Larsen leading the way. The winning pitcher was Larsen, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Edward Swetnam was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Clive Edney, the Mancelona center fielder, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 3-2, Torch. For the game, Edney was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
