Brian Thomas was the difference-maker for the Yakima Hops in what turned into a shootout with the Akron Blimps. Thomas went 2-for-4 in the 11-9 Hops win. Timo Noordam, now 4-6, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Yakima has 3 straight wins, Akron 4 straight losses.

Thomas had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Kenny McFadden, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Hops a 11-9 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Thomas.

Thomas told the Yakima Gazette: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
