Tacod Excels, But Loons Win
The Minnesota Loons had to overcome a big game from Akron second baseman Sherwin Tacod to leave Goodyear Hanger Dome with a victory. And they did, winning 9-5. Tacod hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Derrick Jones earned the win to go to 9-4. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Clayton Horne collected his 4th save.

Sonny Day, who leads the 3AA in triples with 12, helped out the Minnesota cause in the top of the fourth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the left fielder went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We came out aggressive," said Loons manager Rafael Clemente. "We came out swinging the bats."

The losing streak for Akron has now reached 8 games.
