Battery Lose to Rainbow Mermaids, 9-6
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Charleston Battery, 9-6, at Atlantica. The Rainbow Mermaids got a fine performance from shortstop Cor van Capelleveen, who went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. Wayne Compton picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Elroy Quaid was tagged with the loss. At 34-43, the Rainbow Mermaids are currently 7th in the Premier League.
Eustacio Tafalla, who finished 4th in the PL in OPS with .943 last year, chipped in for Northern Virginia with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Tafalla.
