Loons Come Up Short at Casper, 3-2
|
Derrick Jones pitched well, but the Minnesota Loons still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the Casper Ghosts at The Graveyard. Luis Ornelas, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Fernando Gonzáles earned the save, his 3rd, for the Ghosts.
The Ghosts got a big boost from catcher Tai Kuo who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the second inning off Loons hurler Derrick Jones. It was his 1st RBI of the season and put Casper on top, 3-2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Casper manager Manuel Romo said.
The 6th-place Ghosts are now 29-28, the Loons 35-22.
