The Billings Polar Bears had to overcome a fine performance from Crescent City pitcher Marty Taylor to grab a 2-0 win at Field of the Krewe. Taylor allowed 2 runs over 6 innings. Itze Pankhurst, 7-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. Earning his 1st save of the year was Stewart Clapp.

In the top of the third, Dhataki Pummy hit a run-scoring triple. The 2nd triple of the season for the Billings right fielder put the Polar Bears on top, 1-0.

Afterward, Polar Bears manager Marvin Nelson was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
