Late Rally by Blimps Secures 7-4 Win
|
The Akron Blimps faced a tough opponent in Crescent City pitcher Danny Baker, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Field of the Krewe by a final score of 7-4. Baker went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Kenny McFadden sewed up the save, his 2nd. With the win, Akron upped its record to 29-19.
Akron used the timely hitting of Rommel Fflunker to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blimps on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Akron manager Noel Ballard.
