Desi Liñares did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Yakima Hops from losing, 6-4, to the Crescent City Krewe at Hops Park. Liñares went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The save went to Carlos Rosado, his 12th this season. Yakima has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Crescent City used the timely hitting of Michizane Yamashita to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Krewe on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Yamashita told the Crescent City Chronicle. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
