Fighting Imps Come Up Short at Billings, 3-2
|
The Billings Polar Bears beat the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 3-2, at The Igloo. The Polar Bears got a fine performance from left fielder Ángel Torrez, who was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Getting the save was Bobby Taylor, his 6th. The Polar Bears improved to a lofty 30-12.
Torrez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Billings in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Torrez took a fastball from Hank Garrett and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Polar Bears to leap in front, 3-2.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Ithaca manager Gary Thomas. "The effort was great."
