Charleston right fielder Rick Kirkham played a vital role in his team's 6-5 triumph over Long Island. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Charleston. Amberlan Romubio got credit for the win, improving to 7-1. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. The Battery improve their record to 32-41 with the win over Long Island.
The Battery relied on catcher Fortunato Rasquinha for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
