Losing Streak Continues for Saboteurs with 6-3 Loss to Blues
|
The inspired effort of Toledo center fielder Tom Connelly was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-3, to the Barton Springs Blues. Connelly was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. The winner was Steve Walden, who threw 111 pitches over 7.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits. The save went to Graviel Azevedo, number 11 for him.
Ed Haynes, the 26-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Haynes contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Barton Springs up, 5-0.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Toledo manager Will Thomas.
The Saboteurs, at 8-23, have lost 10 in a row.
