White Walkers Prevail, 4-3, Over Thunder Bay
|
Buffalo picked up a win at Beyond the Wall, bumping off the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 4-3. Pitcher Dave McAlear was a major reason the White Walkers emerged victorious. McAlear, now 2-10, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Ron Mingo, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Dao-zi Zhan came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Thunder Bay pitcher Jorge Souza, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Buffalo on top, 4-3.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The win gives the White Walkers a record of 27-63.
