Battery Collect 5-3 Win Over Cattlemen
|
Charleston starter Tony Alfonso had a strong outing against the Ft. Worth Cattlemen at The Cattle Pen. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Amando Codes closed the door for Charleston, picking up his 2nd save of the year. Today's win puts Charleston at 25-32, while Ft. Worth falls to 14-43.
Charleston used the timely hitting of Rick Kirkham to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Battery on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Alfonso said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
