Battery Get Past Long Island for 5-4 Win
|
The Long Island Lighthouse got a sterling performance from first baseman Javier Seco, but the Charleston Battery still prevailed, 5-4. Seco hit 2 home runs. Charleston reliever Amberlan Romubio picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Dewitt Clendaniel shouldered the loss. Branlyn Jaraba locked down his 4th save.
Alfonso López, who is tied for 9th in the PL in triples with 2, helped out the Charleston cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," López said.
The Battery, at 17-24, sit in 9th place in the Premier League.
