84s Drop Battery, 7-0
|
The Charleston Battery and Greenville 84s were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Greenville 84s got a strong performance from pitcher Modeste Azagba, who stymied the Charleston offense en route to a win, 7-0, at Charleston Armory. Azagba got the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. Azagba allowed no runs.
With scoring opportunities rare, the 84s had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the seventh, when designated hitter Christiaan Bunschoten hit a 2-run single. The single came off Amando Codes and made the score 5-0, 84s. Bunschoten went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
Azagba told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
Greenville has an impressive 26-13 record.
