Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Oaks
|
The Oakland Oaks faced a tough opponent in Detroit pitcher Jim Harris, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Detroit Stadium by a final score of 4-1. Harris went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The victory gives Oakland a record of 16-15.
Oakland used the timely hitting of Rodrigo Jiménez to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Oaks on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I thought we played a nice game," Jiménez told the Oakland Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
