Kingfishers Turn Back San Mateo, 5-3
|
Benefiting from Karl Blanke's productive game, the Pittsburgh Kingfishers downed the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 5-3. Blanke went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times for the Kingfishers. Joe Khokar closed it out for his 16th save. Pittsburgh's record now stands at 50-34, placing them first in the Silver League.
Ruud van Ineveld, who led the SL in RBI with 108 in 2038, chipped in for Pittsburgh with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
