The Pittsburgh Kingfishers got a stellar performance from pitcher Zebulon Vermillion, who handcuffed the San Mateo offense en route to a 3-2 win at Pittsburgh Grounds. Getting the save was Joe Khokar, his 15th. The second-place Kingfishers now have a win-loss record of 49-34.

Li-ren Ku chipped in for Pittsburgh with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
