Mockingbirds Lose to Kingfishers, 3-1
|
The Mississippi Mockingbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Nolan Howard. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Pittsburgh. The Kingfishers won the game, 3-1. In spite of the loss, Howard was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Pittsburgh reliever Kenny James was credited with the win, to go to 6-2. Nolan Howard took the loss for Mississippi. Pittsburgh has 3 straight wins, Mississippi 3 straight losses.
In the top of the fourth, Pittsburgh shortstop Kjartan Einarsson had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, Einarsson stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-1, Pittsburgh. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson. "Our pregame was pretty good."
