The New Orleans Voodoo eked out a 5-4 win versus the Pittsburgh Kingfishers at The Voodoo Lounge. Nobody did more than center fielder Reggie Gommers, who captured player of the game honors. Glenn Underwood earned the win to go to 3-2. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Ramón Aragón, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
New Orleans took a 5-4 lead on Gommers's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Ean Somoza in the bottom of the seventh, propelled New Orleans to the win.
"We did enough to win," said Gommers.
New Orleans is now 11-13.
