Kingfishers Shut Out Bowties
|
The Buckhead Bowties got a superb performance from pitcher Dave Becker, but the Pittsburgh Kingfishers still won the game, 2-0. Becker was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The Kingfishers are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 3rd win in 7 games.
Pittsburgh relied on the hitting of Naganori Inoue to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the second inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 2-0. For the game, Inoue had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Afterward, Kingfishers manager Tyler Johnson was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
