Knights Topple Kingfishers with Late Rally
|
The 2043 season did not get off to quite the start the Pittsburgh Kingfishers had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Kingston Township Knights at Pittsburgh Grounds. The final score was 2-1. Starting Pitcher Francisco Díaz was named player of the game for Kingston Township. Kingston Township reliever Dale Snider picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joe Khokar was saddled with the loss.
Kingston Township used the timely hitting of Eustacio Tafalla to capture the win. The third baseman socked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knights ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"If we keep winning the close games," Díaz said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
