Both teams had their chances, but the Cleveland Browns eventually prevailed at Pittsburgh Grounds.
The Cleveland Browns knocked off the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 4-3, at Pittsburgh Grounds. Moriz Ayushiev, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Cleveland won. The third baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Reliever Nick Altrock picked up the win. His record improves to 11-4. Jang-lu Moy took the loss. Dewitt Clendaniel notched his 23rd save in 30 chances.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Steve Chittick to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Browns on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Ayushiev. "Obviously."
The Browns saw their win-loss record go to 48-59. At the same time, the Kingfishers fell to 66-41.
