Billy Goats Come Up Short at Pittsburgh
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Phil Steur, who kept Colorado hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Kingfishers win at Pittsburgh Grounds. Joe Khokar converted his 18th save in 21 tries. The Kingfishers' win now puts them at 57-36.
In the bottom of the fourth, with Pittsburgh leading 1-0, catcher Junior Young hit a run-scoring single. The hit came off Yin-zhen Wu and put the Kingfishers ahead, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson said.
