Bowties Come Up Short at Kingston Township
|
The Kingston Township Knights defeated the Buckhead Bowties, 6-5, at Cloverdale Legion Park. Ánibal Lima was named player of the game for Kingston Township. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 triple, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Chase Sims earned the win for Kingston Township. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 11-3. David Blake notched his 17th save in 19 chances.
Amor Campos had a big 2-run single for the Knights in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Kingston Township leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Omar Morales and stroked the single to left. It was his 97th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 6-3.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister. "But we decided not to take it."
Kingston Township, now 41-50, holds 8th place in the Silver League.
