Lighthouse Need Extra Frames to Get Past Divided
|
The Long Island Lighthouse knocked off the D.C. Divided, 7-5, at Washington Stadium. Colm Goodwill, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Long Island won. The shortstop went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Carlos Rodríguez in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Kent Martin took the loss. The save went to Jorge Villanueva, his 1st this season.
Long Island used the timely hitting of Iiri Haapajarvi to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Lighthouse on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Haapajarvi.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Long Island.
