Mockingbirds Lose to Knights, 5-2
|
The Kingston Township Knights defeated the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 5-2, in United States Silver League action at Magnolia Park, with Kingston Township pitcher Jin-oong Mae named player of the game. David Blake picked up the save, his 14th. The 7th-place Knights are now 34-37, the Mockingbirds 33-38.
Kingston Township used the timely hitting of Ed Mellor to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Knights ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Mellor told a Kingston Township Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
