Broom Leads Charge, Kingston Township Blasts Elite
|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Dave Broom, the Kingston Township Knights defeated the Detroit Elite, 13-2. Broom went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Knights. Zebulon Vermillion, credited with the win, is now 2-8. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 9 innings. The Knights have now won 5 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Kingston Township, had it not been for Glenn Curtis, the slick-fielding second baseman . Curtis contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Kingston Township up, 1-0.
"That game had disaster written all over it," said Detroit skipper Dustin Hewitt. "I could feel it."
