Almost There: Portland On Cusp of R2043 Triumph After 6-2 Win
|
The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2044 today, downing the Long Island Lighthouse on the road at The Lighthouse by a score of 6-2. Evergreens right fielder Fernando Soto was named player of the game after he went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2043.
Portland used the timely hitting of David Milliken to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Portland manager Brandon Slouck told reporters.
