After a 5-hit effort to lead D.C.'s 18-7 victory over the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, shortstop Francisco Alhama told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the United States Silver League-level is really something special."

The 24-year-old player earned his accolades today at Great Northern Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Northern Lions BC.

"His swing is getting there," said Divided skipper Jonathan Gerth, who spoke glowingly of Alhama after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Francisco did that to perfection today."

Francisco Alhama struck out in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Roger Rodenburg in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Miguel Rodríguez in the 8th, hit a two-run home run off Greg Hoover in the 9th and singled in the 9th.

Alhama on the season is hitting .297 with 15 home runs. His stats include 40 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
