An all-important Game of the Silver League Championship went into extra innings at Great Northern Field, with the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC eventually emerging on top. Thunder Bay has Yao-pang Chiang to thank, after the first baseman went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 in the 6-5 victory. The Northern Lions BC are now one game away from the Round 2, holding a - lead in the best-of- series.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Ramón Padilla came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Oakland pitcher Jan Koistinen, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Thunder Bay on top, 6-5.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Padilla said.
