|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC defeated the Kingston Township Knights, 5-3, in United States Silver League action at Cloverdale Legion Park, with Thunder Bay first baseman Yao-pang Chiang named player of the game. Ezra Peterson, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 1-1. Kingston Township's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Chiang had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 3-1 fastball from Zebulon Vermillion, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Northern Lions BC a 5-3 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Chiang.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Chiang told the Thunder Bay Today.
