Knights Lose to Bowties, 4-1
|
The Buckhead Bowties knocked off the Kingston Township Knights, 4-1, at 5 Paces Park. Charles Godard, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Buckhead won. The right fielder was 3-4 with 3 singles. Anthony Hurst finished the game for Buckhead and earned his 7th save. Buckhead is now 28-15, 2˝ games up in the Silver League.
Félix Fernández had a big run-scoring double for the Bowties in the bottom of the second inning. With Buckhead leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Chase Sims and stroked the double to right. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bowties ahead, 2-0.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Godard said after the game.
