San Mateo turned a good effort from starter Sylvain Richard into a win over the Mississippi Mockingbirds at Lang Park. The final score was 3-2. Richard went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-1. The save went to Okura Yamasaki, his 1st this season.
In the bottom of the 6th, second baseman Shiki Sanu gave San Mateo the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Dirty Reds had been trailing 2-0, but the two-out home run off Mississippi pitcher Dan Stokes changed that -- and San Mateo went on to win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Mississippi manager Beau Carsten.
With the victory, the Dirty Reds record now stands at 14-10.
