Lighthouse Get Close Win Over Dirty Reds
|
The Long Island Lighthouse defeated the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 4-3. Earning player of the game honors was designated hitter Scott Kerin, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Villanueva got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. With the win, Long Island improves its record to 11-10.
Had Kerin not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Kerin hit a 2-run home run. The Lighthouse never looked back after taking the 4-3 lead.
