San Mateo left-hander Sylvain Richard was sensational in shutting out the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 2-0. The win leaves San Mateo with a record of 7-2.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Rainer Ausmus didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Ft. Worth trailing 2-0, Ausmus retired Min-gook Ch'oe to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ausmus, with a wink.
