Lighthouse Rally to Eke Out Win
Dong-young Won had a good game, but he could not keep the San Mateo Dirty Reds from falling, 4-3, to the Long Island Lighthouse at The Lighthouse. The San Mateo first baseman went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 in the loss. Long Island reliever Mac Hippenhammer picked up the win to move to 1-0. Rainer Ausmus suffered the loss. The win leaves Long Island with a record of 1-1.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Mark Toope came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing San Mateo pitcher Okura Yamasaki, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Long Island on top, 4-3.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Toope.
