The 2042 season did not get off to quite the start the Long Island Lighthouse had hoped, with an opening day loss to the San Mateo Dirty Reds at The Lighthouse. The final score was 5-0. Starting Pitcher Travis Morgan was named player of the game for San Mateo. In 6 innings, Morgan surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed no runs.

It could have been a different outcome for San Mateo, had it not been for Palaie Gaoteote, the 29-year old first baseman . Gaoteote contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put San Mateo up, 1-0.
