|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds knocked off the Colorado Billy Goats, 6-4, at Lang Park. Ambrose Watkins, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason San Mateo won. The catcher was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Earning his 3rd save for San Mateo was Justin Frederick. San Mateo's record now stands at 53-46, placing them 5th in the Silver League.
Javier Sierra drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for San Mateo. The 33-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ron Fernández. It was his 55th RBI of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Sierra said after the game.
