Calhamar Hurls Lighthouse to Shutout Victory Wednesday, June 19th, 2041 Valentin Calhamar subdued the Athletic Club KC, 16-0, pitching a 2-hit gem for the Long Island Lighthouse at Athletics Park. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Long Island skipper Michael Esposito said afterward. Calhamar registered 8 strikeouts and issued no walks in his superb performance. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Athletic Club KC manager Andy Mayfield after the defeat.
