Closing In: Long Island Nears R2043 With Dramatic Game Win
The Long Island Lighthouse needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 2043 today. The Lighthouse got the 10-7 win against the Brooklyn Dodgers in a walk-off at The Lighthouse. Long Island right-hander Greg Hodge was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Lighthouse a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2042.

The Lighthouse were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Vicente Romero turned a 1-0 fastball from Tom DeHart into a grand slam home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Long Island a thrilling 10-7 win.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Michael Esposito said.
