Knights Hammered by Matsumoto, Fall Further Behind in R2042
Portland Evergreens first baseman Tetsu Matsumoto was the difference-maker at Cloverdale Legion Park today, winning player of the game honors as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game of the Round 2042. The Evergreens took the 7-5 win over the Kingston Township Knights to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.

Portland used the timely hitting of Gene Wilson to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Evergreens ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Wilson told the Portland Observer.
