Almost There: San Mateo On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 6-1 Win
Game was big. So was Ratko Davidovic.

The San Mateo starter rose to the occasion at The Tank today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Dirty Reds to a crucial 6-1 victory over the Panama City Piranhas. Davidovic threw 6 innings allowing 1 run as the Dirty Reds won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

San Mateo used the bat of Tom Burton to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," Dirty Reds manager Dean Ashley said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
